  • 4 Days/ 3 Nights Itinerary for Climbing Mount Meru

    Daily Itinerary

    Day 1:

    Momella Gate (1500 m) – Miriakamba hut (2500 m) Walking time approximately 4 hours.
After breakfast you will transported to the Arusha National Park where the Momella Gate is stationed. From the starting point by gently rising grassland (almost always pass a herd of buffalo, hence the mandatory guidance by an armed ranger). Over a broad back, the path approaches quickly on the slopes of Mt Meru and ascends steeply soon. By beautiful mountain forest to the hut.

    Day 2:

    Miriakamba hut (2500 m) – Saddle Hut (3600 m) Walking time approximately 4 hours.
after about 2 hours walking the vegetation changes from the mountain jungle to bush. On the right, newly built road to long and go up to the broad saddle between the main massive and the Little Meru. We recommend an afternoon hike to sleep cant (about 1 hour on the 3820 m high Little Meru).

    Day 3:

    Saddle Hut (3600 m) – the summit (4566 m) – Saddle Hut (3600 m) Walking time approximately 8 hours.
Recommended is a start around 5:00 clock. The technically easy but strenuous climb leads only through the foothills of the Busch Forest and later by vegetation loose rock and scree slopes. Descent by the same route. It is recommended to spend the night again in the Saddle Hut.

    Day 4:

    Saddle Hut (3600 m) – Momella Gate (1500 m) Walking time 3-4 hours.
The way back to the Momella Gate is along the ascent route.
Transport back to your hotel or cottage.

For different climbing days, the itinerary will be modified.
