This delectable beach side retreat is in the recently gazetted Saadani
National Park. The park itself is unique to the rest of
east Africa combining a variety of ecosystems including
bush, beach and river. At Saadani you can be on a game
drive in the morning, followed by a beachside lunch and an afternoon
boat safari on the Wami River,
Each of the
9 cottages at the lodge are sympathetically spaced
along the beach offering great views (especially at sunrise) and
privacy. The rooms are all en-suite and have private verandas. There
is an open thatched restaurant also directly on sand with a raised
sundowner deck above it. Nearby is a swimming pool
and a tree house overlooking a small water hole where a
variety of antelope can be seen.
The
lodge owner, Costas a Greek-Burundian renovated a dilapidated lodge
and taking in to consideration the local environment created this
superb eco-friendly lodge. The atmosphere at the lodge is unpretentious
and comfortable. The staff are extremely helpful and the seafood
meals are some of the best in Tanzania.
