Mikumi Wildlife Camp, which is also known as Kikoboga,
is at the centre of Mikumi National Park situated just 300 metres
from the main east-west Tanzania highway. The camp has commanding
views across the Mkata Flood Plains and is within easy
reach of some of the more interesting areas of the park including
the hippo pools.
The lodge has
12 very-comfortable, large stone and thatch bandas spread on a grassy
field that is often frequented by impala, zebra and other antelope.
The two family rooms have 2 rooms with the ability to sleep
6– offering good value for families and groups. The
communal areas are special at the camp with the bar and restaurant
set under a huge fig tree overlooking two waterholes;
that often are busy with game.
Further on
to the plains is a small sun deck around a swimming pool
and an observation tower. The camp concentrates primarily
on game drives however by special arrangement visitors can take
a walking safari to the source of the Kikoboga River.
We
really like this lodge and even though the rumble of trucks can
be heard the animal concentrations, service and general setting
of the lodge keep this as a popular option with our clients.
