Visiting the Selous is a far cry from almost any other park in Africa.
For here you are always conscious of the huge tract of wild Africa
that surrounds you. It’s the walking and fly-camping that
undoubtedly cast the strongest spell, the Selous is the only park
in Tanzania where you can go on a boat Safari. Days are spent on
foot exploring old elephant paths and evenings in the open, at a
camp-fire with an uninterrupted cacophony of African calls all around
you
Day
1
Depart Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar by air, arrival at Selous Game
Reserve. Afternoon boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River, where
you can watch plenty of hippos, crocodiles, and bird life is prolific.
Dinner and overnight at Rufiji
River Camp (or similar) which is a tented camp situated
in the north-eastern part of the Selous Game Reserve on a high bank
overlooking the Rufiji River and the plain beyond. The camp accommodates
guests in 20 comfortable tents. Each tent has twin beds with mosquito
nets, en-suite bathroom and a veranda facing the river. The central
restaurant provides excellent cuisine. The camp makes maximum use
of local materials, retaining an intimate relationship with the
surrounding eco-system.
Day 2
Full-day game drive of Selous Game Reserve, Africa's largest wildlife
sanctuary, with an area of 54.600kms. Selous is bigger than Denmark
and 4 times the size of Serengeti. It has the world's largest number
of big game - elephant, buffalo, rhino. It also contains wildebeest,
eland, giraffe,waterbuck, zebra, impala, hippo, leopard and lion.
There are about 350 species of bird life. Dinner and overnight at
the camp.
Day 3
Morning walking safari.This allows an intimate impression of the
African bush and wildlife, which is unforgettable, and brings you
closest to pristine nature. After lunch, another boat safari. Dinner
and overnight at the Camp.
Day 4
Breakfast at Rufiji River Camp. Full day game view drive of Selous
Game Reserve. Picnic lunch on the way. Dinner and overnight at Rufiji
River Camp.
Day 5
Breakfast at Rufiji and rest at the camp till lunch. Celebrate lunch
with Champagne. Evening Boat Safari from 15:30 to 18:00hrs dinner
and overnight at Rufiji River Camp.
Day
6
After breakfast, flight to Zanzibar. Transfer to beach hotel in
Nungwi, the fabulous Ras
Nungwi Beach Hotel.
Day 7-11
Relax and enjoy the beaches of Zanzibar. There is a wide range of
water sport activities you can do, like snorkeling, scuba diving,
boat trips and more.

12
After breakfast transfer to the Emerson
& Green Hotel in Stonetown On the way we will do
the famous Spice Tour. We have developed a special Spice Tour with
in depth information not only about spices, but also organically
grown herbs and a detailed description about their traditional uses
in medicine cosmetics and cooking. After the tour we invite for
an opulent lunch at our guides' home, where you can taste the spices
and fruits. The Spice Tour is also the cheapest place to purchase
spices and spice oils. Dinner at the rooftop restaurant of the Emerson
& Green Hotel.
Day 13
Today we will show you Stone Town on our Historical Stone Town Tour.
This tour takes you through fabled Stone Town, where history appears
to stand still. With visits to the House of Wonders, the Palace
Museum (People's Palace), Dr Livingston's House and the Arab Fort
amongst others, it is a fascinating look at the essence of Zanzibar.
You will see Zanzibar's bustling market, winding alleyways, ornately
carved and studded doors, two cathedrals and countless mosques!
In the afternoon transfer to Kizimkazi, in the Southern part of
Zanzibar, for the Dolphin Tour. Late afternoon back to Stonetown.
Overnight Emerson & Green Hotel, breakfast and dinner.
Day 14
departure to airport.
