This new Island Resort is located just 5km offshore
from the main island Zanzibar, opposite Stonetown, on the West Coast
of the Island. The beautiful private island takes your breath away
as soon as you reach it after 30 minutes by boat: a haven of peace
and silence, exquisite barfoot luxury, far away from the crowds
of tourists on Zanzibar.
The hotel can accommodate only 30 people,
which ensures a special atmosphere and a tentative service. Its
15 magnificent cottages built on local traditional materials and
topped with thatched roofs, are discretely scattered along the beach
line, all of them with panoramic views of the clear waters of the
Indian Ocean, ensuring maximum privacy and seclusion.
The cottages are built to allow the seabreeze to
circulate and cool the rooms day and night, while there is no air
conditioning.
The spacious cottages host magnificent
dhow type of beds equipped with mosquito nets. The tasteful interiors
are elegantly decorated and they all contain ensuite bathrooms,
all with double basin, 2 al fresco showers and bathtub.
The large private wooden verandas
looking over the ocean give an impression of living outdoors, with
air remaining mild all year round.
The exquisite restaurant features
the finest International Cuisine as well as traditional Swahili
recipes. Delicious grilled fish, daily fresh catches from the surrounding
waters, will please the most demanding gourmets.
Bawe offers breathtaking marine life. The waters
around the island are an excellent location for diving and snorkeling.
You can also visit the sister island Prison island, with its Giant
tortoises. Or visit ancient Stonetown on Zanzibar 'mainland'. But
the main activity on Bawe Island is relaxing at the beach or the
pool, with a cocktail, maybe a massage...
